Division Nets and Cricket Nets In Multisports Halls
Some thoughts and suggestions when considering Sports Hall Design – for more details refer to the Sports England Guidance Notes or contact us to discuss your requirements.

  • Roof height is critical – Ensure space for services like lighting and heating don't clash with net tracking systems.
  • Tracking for Cricket nets. Note 7.6M clear height above floor level is required if the hall is also to be used for Badminton Courts – work back from the eaves on curved roofs – 7.0M clear height minimum for most team games including basketball and volleyball.
  • Bagged cricket and hall division netting can be stowed outside critical play areas, in some cases nets must be hoisted above shoulder height.

Cricket Bay Widths and Basketball
Depends of the standard of match play and overall size of the Sports Hall

  • Minimum Bay width 3.66M, ideally 4M with a 1M safety margin surround space.
  • Matchplay BasketBall – In some circumstances roof retractable goals can clash with the cricket net tracking system with the potential to compromise cricket bay width.

Sprung Floors

  • Rebound boards, posts will require anchor points. Retro fitting can be expensive on sprung floors if the anchor points have not been predetermined.
